This workshop will introduce the R Project for Statistical Computing and RStudio with a focus on spatial statistics, data input/output, web mapping, and web applications (using Shiny). Rather than a deep dive into a specific library or set of tools, this workshop will provide a broad overview of R’s superb spatial data capabilities with the goal of demonstrating how it can improve your GIS workflow. Attendees need only a laptop with a web browser. They will work in RStudio alongside the instructors using provided templates and scripts. No prior experience with R or RStudio are required, though those with some experience will likely still benefit from this workshop.
